Ogun Labour Party reposition for better performance, warns impostors to stay off

Suspension: Again, Ogun Speaker loses as court dismisses application for stay of execution

By Our Correspondent  An Ogun State High Court sitting in Abeokuta, on Wednesday, dismissed the stay of execution application by the state House of Assembly Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, against the judgment of the court which nullified the suspension of a lawmaker, Dare Kadiri. The court, presided by Hon. Justice O. A. Onafowokan of the High Court 3, Abeokuta Judicial Division, refused the Speaker's application and also awarded a fine of N100,000 against him. It will be recalled that the court had, earlier on March 31, 2023, nullified the suspension of Kadiri, a former Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, and directed that all emoluments due to the lawmaker be paid immediately by the House. Ogun Amotekun nabs two over murder of Fulani herder

By Our Correspondent Operatives of the Ogun State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) have arrested two persons, identifed as Akinyele Adebayo (49) and Idosu Gbalo (30), at Ijagure village, in Sagada area of Imeko -Afon Area of the state, over the murder of a Fulani herder, Umaru Aliu. The state Commandant of Amotekun Corps, CP David Akinremi (rtd), in a statement made available to Salient Times, said the suspects conspired and murdered Aliu, on a farmland belonging to Chief Ogunlana Fagbemi. While Aliu was unlucky, his co-herder, identified as Umaru Takake escaped the scene of the incident unhurt. The incident, it was gathered happened on Sunday 30th April, 2023, while the deceased and his colleague were grazing their cattle in the bush near the village. Ayorinde Abdul-Salam Adebayo over allegations of fraud, absent from office, as well as acts of obstructing the legislative council from performing its statutory functions among other gross misconduct. Ayorinde's suspension was part of resolutions arrived at by the Council's legislators at the end of her plenary session held on Wednesday at the Legislative Chamber of the local government. 2 die, 8 others hospitalised after drinking tea at wedding ceremony in Kano

By Our Correspondent  Two persons have been confirmed dead after drinking tea prepared with local leaf popularly called, Zakami, at a wedding ceremony, weekend, in Sheka, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State. The ward head of the area, Usman Musa Zakari, confirmed this to journalists who visited the area yesterday. This was contrary to unconfirmed reports from the area that put the figure of persons who lost their lives at seven or more. Zakari gave names of two victims as Mubarak Bala, also known as Diga and Ibrahim Khalil. According to him, “It is true that the incident happened. It happened when the persons drank a tea prepared with a local leaf called Zakami and a combination of other drugs. Three in Police net over Abeokuta phone market robbery

By Our Correspondent Men of Ogun State Police Command on Saturday 6th of May 2023, apprehended three members of a robbery syndicate, who invaded the phone market popularly known as Tarmac, in Oke-Ilewo area of Abeokuta, on the 12th of April 2023. The robbers, killed one of the traders at the market and carted away several highly valued phones.  The suspects, according to the statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi included; Ajayi Kayode, Habeeb Idowu and Temitayo Oresanya. FAO, Nigeria Govt eye N38bn funding to improve agricultural sector

By Our Correspondent  The Food and Agriculture Organization and the Nigerian government are eyeing N38.3 billion ($83.16m) to develop the country’s agricultural sector. The figure was contained in an FAO report from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Friday. According to the data, the FAO Nigeria Country Programming Framework 2023-2027 already has N7.54 billion for the agriculture initiative. The initiative’s priority would be to spur capacity for value chain analysis, upgrading commodity value chains. “The funding gap would be solved through resource mobilisation and partnership with multilateral and unilateral donors including governments at federal and state levels,” it said.
