Concerns Rise as Police Assault Politician's Family

Armed police officers raided and assaulted  one Alhaja Somoye Adebimpe Monsurat and her grandson, Somoye Oluwatosin Khalid, on 3rd, June 2023, inflicting injuries on them. Alhaja Somoye is the mother of Hon. Somoye Sheu Adedolapo, a politician from Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State. The assault occurred at Mrs. Ogunsola Ololade's residence in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

During the invasion, the officers believed Hon. Somoye Sheu Adedolapo was present, prompting a thorough search of the premises and causing damage to property. Mrs. Ogunsola Ololade, the owner of the house, was subjected to assault and threats, while Hon. Somoye Sheu's son, Oluwatosin Khalid, also suffered harm.

The incident unfolded at about 8pm at 19, Ijagun road, Ijebu Ode, on 3rd, June 2023, reportedly belonging to Hon. Somoye Sheu's sister. The police officers, in their search for Hon. Somoye Sheu Adedolapo, vandalized the house and assaulted its occupants.

Despite the report of the incident, no arrests have been made by the Police officers from the Porogun Police division, who visited the house to assess the situation. The identities of the invading officers remain unknown at this time.

A senior police officer from the division, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the politically motivated attack and assured that an investigation has been initiated into the matter.

Insecurity: Suspected Cultists Burn Home of Ogun Politician

By Our Correspondent  Gunmen suspected to be cultists went on rampage in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, assaulting many people, burning a house and distrupting the peace of the  city. The young men, whose numbers could not be ascertained as at press time, on Saturday 7th April 2023, attacked and burnt the family house of one Mrs. Peju Ogundairo living in Olokuta area of the city. Report indicated that the attackers came to the area and the particular house in search of a man called Hon. Adebayo Ogundairo, a politician and son to Mrs. Peju Ogundairo. Investigation revealed that the mission of the hoodlums was to retaliate an earlier attack on one of their gang leaders named "Omoaye", a strong loyalist of the state governor, Dapo Abiodun.
